Disadvantages and advantages of independent films
INDIE FILMS:
Advantages:-
Something new,
Way of showing a raw format- Less editing budgets
Disadvantages:-
Less access to well known actors/ stars to include
A lower budget so might not be able to spend as much on the distributing/ marketing process
Might be a first film so the current audience is not there yet- no fans- taking a risk.
Cannot afford to created a big blockbuster such as films by DISNEY.
BIG CONGLOMERATE:
Advantages:-
will be bale to travel to better locations
have more access to well mown stars to include
will be able to take risks when making a new film are the target audience/ fan base is already there from their other films
Due to the sheer size there are more opportunities for free advertising- having a cliff hanger at the end of their last film keeping the audience wanting more, more likely to show up to the new showing film.
You can make more money from the toys of the film than just the money made from the film.
Ill manors was released in 2012
How was it promoted?
Through the music released by PlanB- This gave it high promotion.
How was it marketed?
When the film was released, there was "bonus" parts so even if it was watched at the cinema, fans might still want to buy the DVD in order to watch these extras
