Revision notes

Ways to protect piracy- using infered- even if you film it, it will not show.

      the issues raised by media ownership in contemporary media practice;
The consumers (us)  are more likely to watch films by the big 6, instead of in depend films which is a disadvantage because it doesn't give independent film companies a chance to progress. For example, star wars sold billions in the box office whereas films such as ill manors box returns were significantly lower. Showing the difference between the publicising and the consumer choice.

      the importance of cross media convergence and synergy in production, distribution and marketing;
The synergies for films such as The Lion King are important because two different companies benefit- the disney shop benefits because children sometimes buy the toys even without seeing the films and then are encouraged to buy the film- and visor versa- buying the teddy Simba then watching the film- watching the film then buying Simba.
Cross media convergence is equally important in distributing/ marketing a film. For example the film Skyfall has Adele singing for it- fans of Adele are lead to watch the film- the film audience are encouraged to listen to the song.

      the technologies that have been introduced in recent years at the levels of production, distribution, marketing and exchange;
Examples of this is Youtube, Netflix, IMAX.

      the significance of proliferation in hardware and content for institutions and audiences;

      the importance of technological convergence for institutions and audiences;
As technology progresses, we are faced with new items which can do lots of different tasks. For example we now have iPad which we can play games on, listen to music, watch films, watch tv catch up and lots more.
This is when one particular device has many other features- for example a phone- phone calls, email listen to music, access to the internet, play games.
The film "Tango" was filmed purely on an iPhone

      the issues raised in the targeting of national and local audiences (specifically, British) by international or global institutions;
Media products such as tv shows are released at different times, for example American shows are released first there and then a couple months later they are released in Britain. This can be an issue because people from Britain may be lead to illegally download it from American sites leading to piracy.
Hollywood is dominant. American cinema chains show American movies
British indies film don't have the budget to compete with the money spent on talent, SFX and marketing

      the ways in which the candidates’ own experiences of media consumption illustrate wider patterns and trends of audience behaviour.
